Eating disorders are posed today as a major concern for the World Health Organization, since these disorders keep the highest mortality rate among other psychiatric disorders. Eating disorder is the third most prevalent disorder among teenagers and its prevalence is increasing worldwide. Despite being the most common type of eating disorders, Binge Eating disorder has not been much investigated as yet. Worries about binge eating arise from evidence showing that binge eating has serious adverse effects and the highest rate of comorbidity among psychiatric disorders.69 percent of patients with this disorder have at least another psychiatric disorder and 32 percent have at least one personality disorder synchronously. This disorder is also associated with less acceptance and responsiveness to treatment. The present study, after reviewing the categorization and definition of various types of eating disorders, further investigates binge eating disorder, and finally the psychological interventions which have been proposed for the treatment of this disorder will be clarified.
