Abstract: (14 Views)
The present study aimed to assess the feasibility of a community-based group palliative psychological service package on death anxiety and perceived social support in patients with breast cancer. The research method was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest design and a control group with a two-month follow-up period. The statistical population of the study consisted of women with breast cancer in Khorramabad city in the year 1403 (2024/2025). Out of them, 30 individuals were selected using purposive sampling and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups of 15 people each. To collect data, the Death Anxiety Scale (DAS; Templer et al., 1971) and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS; Zimet et al., 1988) were used. The experimental group received a community-based palliative psychological intervention in eight weekly group sessions. Data analysis was performed using repeated measures analysis of variance. The findings showed that there was a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores of death anxiety and perceived social support in the experimental and control groups at the 0.001 level, and also, there was no significant difference between posttest and follow-up mean scores in the experimental group at the 0.001 level, and the results were maintained during the follow-up period. Based on these results, the community-based group palliative psychological service package is an appropriate psychotherapeutic intervention for improving death anxiety and perceived social support in patients with breast cancer.
