Abstract:   (2309 Views)

In the light of increasing researches indicating the role of cultural factors in the reactions of Western and Eastern participants to emotional stimulus such as movie and lack of such instrument in experimental studies in Iran, this research is aimed at investigating and comparing the reaction of male and female participants to an emotional clip in a non-clinical sample. So, a semi-quasi research was designed and 87 students were participated in this study. First, participants determined their mood and answered to the depression and general health scales. Then, they were presented with the clip. Finally, they answered to questions about the movie. Data were analyzed in SPSS-23 using ANOVA. Results indicated that there are significant differences in evaluation of  the clip between male and female participants. This results indicate that women show more responses to emotional stimuli, and they are more likely to express their emotions, while men are more likely to control  or hide their emotional displays. Despite cultural differences, results are consistent with other results.
