Abstract

This research investigated mothers' approaches to interacting with their 9- to 11-year-old daughters regarding prayer and hijab. Regarding the purpose, this was basic research and a qualitative study with a phenomenological approach. The study population consisted of mothers with daughters aged 9- 11 years old living in Tehran in 1401, from whom a convenient sampling was taken, and after 17 interviews, the data reached saturation.  The research instruments included a semi-structured interview and two self-report questions about the extent of prayer and hijab practice. This research used thematic analysis using the Brown and Clark method within a deductive-inductive framework. By analyzing the content of the interviews, 19 sub-themes and 4 main themes were obtained, and according to that, the mothers were divided into three categories. The findings showed that 13 out of 17 mothers who identified themselves as performing prayers and hijab had a different educational approach from the Quran regarding prayer and hijab, even though the approach of the Quran is not to reduce religious actions to superficial behavior and perform religious acts from the Knowledge and awareness or is the non-reductionist approach, the emphasis of most mothers was on the objective behavior and outcome of prayer and hijab and reducing them to a superficial behavior and a reductionist approach. Therefore, it seems necessary for mothers to become aware of the educational methods of the Quran so that educate their children based on it.
