The aim of this study was to investigate the mediating role of cognitive flexibility between behavioral brain systems and difficulty in regulating emotion with depressive symptoms in people with type 2 diabetes. The present study is a descriptive-correlation study of structural equation modeling. The statistical population of the study was all patients with diabetes referred to Armaghan specialized clinic in Karaj in 1399 250 people were selected by available sampling method. Data with Revised Depression Inventory (BDI-II) Beck (1961), Carver and White Brain / Behavioral Systems Scale (BIS / BAS) (1994), Graz and Roemer (DERS) Difficulty in Emotion Regulation Scale (2004), And the Denis and Wonder (2010) Psychological Flexibility Inventory (CFI) were collected. Data were analyzed by correlation test and structural equation modeling using SPSS-24 and AMOS-26 software. The results showed that there is a negative and significant relationship between behavioral activation system and cognitive flexibility with depression (P <0.01). There is a positive and significant relationship between the behavioral inhibition system and difficulty in emotion regulation with depression (P <0.01). The modified model also had a good fit. That is, the research model is able to explain the relationship between variables. The results also confirmed the mediating role of cognitive flexibility in the relationship between brain-behavioral systems and difficulty in regulating emotion with depressive symptoms. Reduces the power of depression in diabetic patients.
