The aim of the research was to determine the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy groups on the adjustment of primary maladaptive schemas and anxiety of secondary school students. This research was a semi-experimental type of research with a pre-test, post-test, and control group design with a one-month follow-up period. The statistical population of the research was all secondary school female students in Nazar Abad city in the academic year 2019-2020, from which 30 people were selected using the available sampling method. These numbers were randomly replaced between the cognitive behavioral therapy group and the control group. Data were collected using Jeffrey Young's early maladaptive schema questionnaires (YSQ-SF) (1998) and Beck's Anxiety Inventory (BAI-II) (1988). Cognitive behavioral therapy group intervention was held in 12 sessions of 1.5 hours and once a week. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance with repeated measurements. The results showed that the main effect of the intervention was cut-off and rejection (0.741), impaired self-management and performance (.415), impaired limitations (.771), other orientation (0.315), and excessive ringing. (0.185) and anxiety (0.822) are significant (p<0.05), that is, there is a significant difference between the two groups in terms of the average components of primary maladaptive schemas and anxiety (<0.05). p). It is concluded that using a cognitive behavioral therapy group, can help to adjust the initial maladaptive schemas and reduce the anxiety of secondary school students.
