This research was conducted to determine the mediating role of fear of missing out in the relationship between maximization and Instagram addiction in students. This was a descriptive-correlational structural equation modeling study. The statistical population of this research was Islamic Azad University, Sanandaj Branch University students in 2023, and 250 of them participated in the available method as a sample. Fear of Missing out Scale (FoMoS; Wegmann et al., 2017), Maximization Scale (MS; Schwartz et al., 2003), and Instagram Addiction Scale (IAS; Kircaburun & Griffiths, 2018) were used to collect data. became. Data analysis was done by the structural equation modeling method. The findings showed that the proposed model has a good fit. Also, the findings showed that maximization and fear of missing out had a direct and significant effect on Instagram addiction (P<0.05); Also, maximization had a direct and significant effect on fear of missing out (P<0.05). The results of the bootstrap test showed that fear of missing out played a mediating role in the relationship between maximization and Instagram addiction (P<0.05). The findings of the present research indicate that maximization has a direct effect on students' addiction to Instagram through the fear of missing out.
