Abstract: (91 Views)
The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of solution-focused therapy on communication styles and family cohesion of women with emotionally cold relationships. The research method was a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test-post-test and control group. The statistical population of this study was married women aged 25-35 years with emotionally cold relationships in 2021-2022 who had referred to the Rasht Welfare Counseling Center, of which 30 people, 15 in the control group and 15 in the experimental group, were selected through convenience sampling and then randomly assigned to two groups. The data collection tools were the Gottman Emotional Divorce Questionnaire (2008, GDES), the Christensen and Salovey Communication Patterns Questionnaire (1984, CPQ), and the Elson et al. Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scale (1985, FACES-IV). The experimental group received one 90-minute session of Grant's solution-focused therapy every week. During this period, the control group did not receive any intervention. A multivariate covariance test was used to analyze the data. The findings showed that by controlling for the pre-test effect, there was a significant difference at the 0.05 level between the mean of the post-test of communication styles and family cohesion in the experimental and control groups. Thus, solution-focused therapy can help couples with marital problems to improve their relationships in their married life through simple techniques and finding different solutions.
