Abstract: (83 Views)
The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of compassion-focused training on self-criticism and parenting stress in mothers with high levels of self-criticism. The research method was a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test-post-test design. The population of this study consisted of all mothers with high levels of self-criticism with children aged 2 to 6 years in Mashhad in 1403, of which 30 were included in the study through purposive sampling and were randomly assigned to two experimental (15 people) and waiting (15 people) groups. The research instruments included the Thompson and Zuroff Levels of Self-Criticism Scale (2004, LOSC), the Abidin Parenting Stress Index-Short Form (1995, PSI-SF), and the compassion-focused training program derived from Gilbert's compassion-focused therapy plan. The research data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance. The findings showed that by controlling for the pre-test effect, there was a significant difference between the mean of self-criticism and parenting stress in the two experimental and control groups at the (P≥0.05) level. It can be concluded that the group-based compassion-focused training program had an acceptable effect on reducing self-criticism and parenting stress in mothers with high levels of self-criticism.
