Abstract:   (75 Views)
This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of schema therapy and attachment-based compassion therapy on cognitive reactivity in people with multiple sclerosis (MS). The present study was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test-post-test design and a control group with a two-month follow-up period. The statistical population of this study included patients with MS in Hamedan in 2024. 60 people were selected by the purposive sampling method and randomly assigned to three groups: test 1 (20 people), test 2 (20 people), and control (20 people). The Leiden Index of Depression Sensitivity (LEIDS; Van der Does, 2002) was used to collect data. Schema therapy and attachment-based compassion therapy were implemented in groups for 8 sessions for the intervention groups. Data analysis was performed using repeated measures analysis of variance. The findings showed that in the two intervention groups, there was a significant difference in cognitive reactivity scores at post-test and follow-up compared to pre-test (P<0.05). The results also indicated that there was no significant difference between the two interventions over time (P<0.05). Overall, it can be concluded that schema therapy and attachment-based compassion therapy were both effective in reducing cognitive reactivity in people with MS.
