The aim of the present study was to determine the mediating role of mindfulness in the relationship between alexithymia and nomophobia in students. This descriptive-correlational study was conducted using structural equation modeling. The statistical population of this study consisted of students at the University of Mohaghegh Ardabili in 2025; 233 of them participated in this study using convenience sampling and responded to an online survey. In order to measure the research variables, the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS; Brown & Ryan, 2003), the Toronto Alexithymia Scale-20 (TAS-20; Bagby et al., 1994), and the Nomophobia Questionnaire (NMP-Q; Yildirim & Correia, 2015) were used. Data analysis was performed using maximum likelihood structural equation modeling. The findings showed that the proposed model had a good fit. The results showed that alexithymia had a positive and mindfulness had a negative significant effect on nomophobia (P<0.05). Another finding showed that alexithymia had a negative and significant effect on mindfulness (P<0.05). The results of the bootstrap test showed that the mediating role of mindfulness in the relationship between alexithymia and nomophobia was significant (P<0.05). From the findings of this study, it can be concluded that mindfulness can mediate the relationship between alexithymia and nomophobia.
