Abstract

Tehran is one of the most polluted cities in the world that this pollution has physical and psychological harmful consequences. This study an applied analytical methods based on library studies and documents for the purpose of utilizing the principles of environmental psychology and behavior analysis of citizens' attitudes in four categories; Due to importance of addressing the causes of air pollution, attitude and perception of citizens about pollution, global strategies for reduce pollution, promote sustainable behavior and the factors influencing behavioral strategies. The results of this study show that so far in the field of air pollution caused by urban transport and traffic in Tehran is much talk and many projects carried out in the projects and programs carried out, focusing more on general policy and in changing patterns of individual level specific works not performed. Environmental psychology as one of the new trends of psychology filed presented ways to reduce the environmental problems that authorities can apply these scientific and effective strategies to change people behavior patterns to reduce air pollution and traffic. It is recommended to education the public about the problem of air pollution and corrects the attitudes and perceptions of citizens and in addition to expansion of poor behavior, rather than punitive policy, emphasis on the reward policy and national media to great effectively used more.
