Abstract

The aim of the present study was to investigate the role of satisfying basic psychological needs, difficulty in regulating emotion, and Feeling lonely in predicting fear of intimacy in female sex workers. This research was descriptive and correlational. The statistical population of this study is all women referring to the Drop-In Center (DIC) in Tehran in the second six months of 1399, from which 50 people entered the study by convenience sampling. Research tools include fear of intimacy inventory (Dekatner and Telen, 1991),  The Basic Needs Satisfaction in General Scale (La Guardia et al, 2000),  difficulties in emotion regulation scale (Grits and Roemer, 2004), and the short form of the Social and Emotional Loneliness Scale for Adults ( Ditommaso et al, 2004). Pearson correlation and simultaneous linear regression were used to analyze the data. Findings showed that feeling lonely and having difficulty in regulating emotion had a positive and significant relationship with fear of intimacy and satisfaction of basic psychological needs had a negative and significant relationship with fear of intimacy (P <0.01). Also, regression results showed that the satisfaction of basic psychological needs, difficulty in regulating emotion, and loneliness were able to predict 0.76 fear of intimacy in female sex workers (P <0.05). Given that the fear of intimacy in female sex workers is affected by dissatisfaction with basic psychological needs, difficulty in regulating emotion, and Feeling lonely, holding workshops based on these concepts in this group of women seems necessary.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of schematic therapy on family and sexual functions of women with frigidity in Isfahan. The method of this study was quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest with waiting for the treatment group. the population of the study consisted of all women with frigidity who were referred to the sexual health center of Isfahan in 2020. Forty women who suffered from frigidity were selected through purposeful sampling after screening with Rosen et al.'s (2000) Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) and Kaplan Clinical Interview (KCI) (2015) and randomly assigned in two groups of experimental and waiting for treatment. The 10 - meeting protocol schema therapy was implemented on the experimental group. The two groups responded to the questioners of  Family Assessment Device (FAD) Miller et al. (2013) and Rosen et al.'s (2000) Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) the beginning and end of the study. the results of data analysis performed using the statistical test of analysis of covariance indicated that the schema therapy was a meaningful effect in improving sexual and familial functions (P<.05). Accordingly, it is possible to say that schema therapy is effective as a complementary method to improve the family and sexual functions of women with frigidity disorder and improve the quality of their marital relationships.

Abstract

The aim of the research was to investigate the mediating role of self-control in the relationship between coping styles and self-concept of elementary school students in Ardakan. The present study was descriptive-correlational which was performed using Path Analysis. The statistical population consisted of all first-grade male students in Ardakan. Using the cluster sampling method, 330 people were selected as the sample.  Data were collected using the Connor Smith Stress Management Styles Questionnaire (RSQ) (1997), Harter  Student Self-Concept (SPPC) (1985), and Grasmick et al.'s Self-Control Questionnaire (SCS) (1993)  and analyzed using Pearson correlation test and Path Analysis. Findings showed that the coping style of intentional coping directly and indirectly through self-control had a positive and significant relationship on self-concept (p <0.01).  Unintentional avoidance coping style had a direct negative relationship on self-concept but indirectly had a positive relationship on self-concept by increasing self-control (p<0.01). The unintentional coping style had a negative and significant relationship on self-concept indirectly through self-control and deliberate avoidance coping style had a negative and significant relationship on self-concept directly (p<0.01). Overall, the findings showed that self-control can play a significant mediating role in the relationship between coping styles and self-concept in elementary school students.

Abstract

The present study aimed to explain psychological well-being in divorced women based on Maslow's theory: the role of public health, financial distress, social support, and self-concept. The population comprised all divorced women (20 to 45 years old) in Arak and Khomein from august to December 2021. 429 people were selected by the available non-random sampling method. All participants completed the public health (GHQ) Goldberg and Hiller (1979), the financial crisis (IFDFWS) of Prawitz et al.'s. (2006), the social support (MSPSS) of Zimet et al. (1988), Sarasut’s (1984) self-concept (SCQ), and Ryff’s (1989) psychological well-being (RSPWB). Structural equation modeling was used to analyze the data. The results showed that general health, financial crisis, and social support had direct and significant effects on self-concept and psychological well-being, respectively (P<0.05). Moreover, self-concept had a direct and significant effect on psychological well-being. In accordance with the results, in divorced women, general health, financial crisis, and social support have an indirect and significant effect on psychological well-being (P<0.05). Finally, it could be mentioned that the model of psychological well-being of divorced women has a good fit, and therefore introducing this model to counselors, psychologists, therapists, researchers, and other specialists is so helpful undoubtedly.

The statistical population of this research is made up of all married men and women of Tabriz City in 2023. From the whole community, 150 people were selected by purposeful sampling. 30 of them were removed because their scores were abnormally outside the average range, and finally, 120 people remained. The score of 60 people was higher than the average range (score 161) and they were considered as successful couples, and the score of 60 people was lower than the average range (score 161) and they were considered as unsuccessful couples. Analysis of variance test was used to analyze the data. The results showed that between successful and unsuccessful couples in search components (P=0.002), fear (P=0.001), play (P=0.001), sadness (P=0.001), spirituality (P=0.001), dark traits of Machiavellianism (P=0.001), narcissism (P=0.001) and antisociality (P=0.002) there was a significant difference. Therefore, it can be said that there is a difference between the neurotic emotional personality and dark personality traits in successful and unsuccessful couples.
