Abstract

Gastrointestinal (Digestive) disorders, as one of the most frequent physical complaints in the human population, are a well-known example of the association of anxiety with physical health. It is estimated that about 7 to 12 percent of all referrals to physicians are due to digestive disorders and symptoms. The main objective of this study was to identify the relationship between anxiety and repression regarding the mediating role of integrative self-knowledge. To achieve this goal, 125 patients with gastrointestinal disorders responded to Integrative self-knowledge (ISK), scaled form of disorder’s symptoms self-evaluation (Symptom Checklist) and Weinberger adjustment inventory questionnaires. The results of regression analysis and correlation of data showed that integrative self-knowledge has a mediating role in the relationship between repression and anxiety in patients with gastrointestinal (digestive) disorders.  These findings, as well as confirming the mutual relationship between mind and body and the importance of psychological processes in patients with physical illnesses, expanded the theoretical model of self-regulation processes and was developed based on its theoretical basis.

Abstract

The present study aimed to develop a causal model of marital instability based on dark personality and ego strength with the mediation of empathy in married women. The design of the current research was descriptive-correlation and structural path analysis methods. The statistical population of this research was all married women who were referred to the health centers of 22 districts of Tehran in the period of August to November of 2022, and 430 people were selected as the sample size using the available sampling method. To collect data, Edwards et al.'s marital instability questionnaires (MLL, 1987), Johnson and Webster's dark personality (DTDDS, 2010), Markstrom et al.'s (PIES, 1997) ego competence, and Jolliffe and Farrington's (MES, 2006) marital empathy questionnaires were used. Pearson's correlation coefficient and path analysis were used to analyze the data. The results showed that the total path coefficient was only between narcissistic personality and marital instability (p<0.05). Positive and the total path coefficient between ego empowerment and empathy (p<0.05) was negative and significant. Also, the indirect path coefficient between narcissistic personality and ego empowerment with marital instability through marital empathy (p<0.05) was negative and significant. Also, the causal model of marital instability based on dark personality and ego strength with the mediation of empathy and in married women had a favorable fit. Their internal psychology improved the stability of the marriage.

Abstract

Divorce of parents is a fateful and risky incident in a child's life. The present study seeks to identify and classify the psychological injuries of divorced children. For this purpose, 3296 documents were retrieved from the Iranian scientific databases including Magiran, SID, Noormags, and Ensani from 2006 to 2023. Then, using the CASP evaluation checklist, 26 documents were selected and analyzed. The findings led to the extraction of 42 criteria to explain the psychological damage of children of divorce, and its classification in the form of 2 intrapersonal (26 criteria) and interpersonal (16 criteria) dimensions. Among the identified criteria, children of divorce are more likely to face a decrease in mental health and self-esteem and an increase in anxiety, anger, and aggression, and they suffer from problems such as incompatibility, depression, sadness, isolation, and loneliness. These psychological injuries are the source of many social problems and dysfunctions, and lack of attention can cause double risks. The continuation of the alarming, exponential and sometimes exponential trend of divorce statistics and the continuation of the current approaches, decision-making, decisions, and actions, which are mainly formal, passive, reactive, insular, and fragmentary, can not only face serious risks to individual and family health but also the foundation of Islamic culture. It brings double damage to Iran in terms of public and national security. It seems that the continuation of this dangerous trend is the biggest soft threat to society, which seriously threatens the foundation, health, growth, and stability of Islamic-Iranian culture.
