Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between religious coping (positive and negative) with the dimensions of mental health in students during the quarantine of the coronavirus epidemic: role of resuscitation. The research method is descriptive of correlation type with path analysis. The statistical population of the study included all undergraduate students of Islamic Azad University, Rasht Branch in the second semester of the academic year 2020-2021, from which a sample of 220 students was selected by the available sampling method and completed the mental health questionnaire of Goldberg and Miller (GHQ), Connor & Davidson Resilience Questionnaire (CD-RISC) and the short form of Religious coping Scale by Pargament et al. (RCS). Data were analyzed using the path analysis method. The results showed that the direct effect of resilience on dimensions of mental health (physical complaints, anxiety and insomnia, social dysfunction, and depression) was significant (p <0.01). The effect of positive and negative religious coping on resilience was direct and significant (p <0.01). Also, positive and negative religious coping through resilience has an indirect and significant effect on the dimensions of mental health (p <0.01). Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the conceptual model has a good fit and the research findings on the relationship between religious coping and students' mental health through resilience, have practical implications for clinical and health psychologists.

Abstract

This research aimed to compare the effectiveness of Islamic Life Skills training and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) therapy on the Distress Tolerance of adolescents with high-risk behavior. The present research method was the type of quasi-experimental study with a pre-test, post-test, and a control group design with a two-month follow-up period. The population of this research included all secondary high school male students of Rasht City in 2023; among them, 45 students were selected by purposive sampling and randomly assigned to two experimental groups and a control group (17 people). A research questionnaire was the Distress Tolerance Scale (Simons & Gaher, 2005) (DTS). Repeated measures analysis of variance and Bonferroni post hoc test were used to analyze the data. The findings showed that both groups of Islamic life skills and MBSR are more effective than the control group on the distress tolerance variable and its components (P>0.05). Also, there was a significant difference between the two intervention groups for the distress tolerance variable and its components (P>0.05), and it showed more effectiveness of MBSR than Islamic life skills. Therefore, it can be concluded that MBSR is a more effective intervention than Islamic life skills in increasing the distress tolerance of adolescents with high-risk behavior.
