Abstract

The present research investigates the structural relationship between interpersonal sensitivity based on the believability of thoughts mediated by the role of cognitive flexibility. The statistical population consists of employees at the Broadcasting Service in the City of Tehran in the year 2021-2022 who totaled 278 people selected via random cluster sampling method who answered  Believability of Anxious Feelings and Thoughts- (BAFT) (Herzberg et al., 2012), Interpersonal Sensitivity Measure -(IPSM) (Boyce & Parker, 1989) and Cognitive Flexibility Inventory-(CFI) (Dennis & Vander Wal, 2012) questionnaires. The data were analyzed by the structural equation modeling method via Spss 22 and Lisrel 8/8 software. An acceptable fit of the data with the modified model was shown by the Fit indicator. Data analysis suggested that there was a negative significant relationship between cognitive flexibility and believability of thoughts and interpersonal sensitivity (p<0.01). A positive meaningful relationship was also noted between the believability of thoughts and interpersonal sensitivity. The Sobel Test results indicated that the variable of cognitive flexibility mediated the believability of thoughts and interpersonal sensitivity (p<0.01). The results also concluded that believability of thoughts and anxious feelings not only had predictive effects but also had indirect predictive effects on employees’ interpersonal sensitivity through cognitive flexibility (p<0.01). From the research findings, the result of the credibility of thoughts and cognitive flexibility can play an essential role in predicting the interpersonal sensitivity of employees.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of short-term dynamic psychotherapy and thematic relationships on interpersonal sensitivity and aggressive behaviors in individuals with a borderline personality disorder. The research design was a quasi-experimental pre-test-post-test with a control group. The statistical population of the present study was all people with borderline personality disorder admitted to Razi Hospital in Urmia in 1399. Forty-five women were selected by purposive sampling method based on entry and exit criteria and in two experimental groups (each (15 patients) and the group waiting for treatment was randomly replaced. So that the first experimental group did not receive short-term dynamic psychotherapy, the second experimental group did not receive thematic relationships and the waiting group did not receive any intervention. The Bartes Impulsivity Scale (BIS, Bart, 1997) and the Interpersonal Sensitivity Questionnaire (ISS, Boyce and Popker, 1989) were used to collect data. Data were analyzed by multivariate analysis of covariance and post hoc test. The results showed that short-term dynamic psychotherapy and thematic relationships have an effect on interpersonal sensitivity and aggressive behaviors in people with borderline personality disorder (P <0.01). The results of the post hoc test also showed that short-term dynamic psychotherapy has a greater effect on aggressive behaviors and the treatment of thematic relationships has an effect on interpersonal sensitivity in borderline disorders (P <0.05). According to the therapeutic goals, dynamic psychotherapy and thematic relationships can be used to influence interpersonal sensitivity and aggressive behavior.

Abstract

The present study was conducted to determine the mediating role of interpersonal sensitivity in the relationship between integrative self-knowledge and self-injurious behaviors in adolescents. The current descriptive-correlation research was of structural equation modeling type. The statistical population of this research included all students of the second secondary level in Tehran in the second semester of the academic year 2023. 419 people participated in this study using the available method and were administered the Inter Personal Sensitivity Measure (IPSM; Boyce & Parker, 1989), Orbach and Mikulincer Mental Pain Scale (OMMP; Orbach et al., 2003), the Integrative Self-Knowledge Scale (ISKS; Ghorbani et al., 2008) and the Inventory of Statements About Self-Injury (ISAS; Klonsky & Glenn, 2009) responded. Data analysis was done by structural equation modeling method. The results showed that the proposed model is a good fit. The results showed that the direct effect of integrative self-knowledge on self-injurious behaviors was negatively significant; On the other hand, interpersonal sensitivity had a positive direct effect on self-injurious behaviors. Also, the results showed that integrative self-knowledge had a negative direct effect on interpersonal sensitivity (P<0.05). The results of the bootstrap test showed that interpersonal sensitivity had a significant mediating role between integrative self-knowledge and self-injurious behaviors (P<0.05). The results of this study indicate that integrative self-knowledge affects self-injurious behaviors directly and through the mediation of interpersonal sensitivity.
