Abstract

The purpose of the present study is to investigate the role of personality traits and social skills in the prediction of the domestic violence among couples. The study used the descriptive-correlational method and the statistical population consisted of all couples with a history of domestic violence referring to counseling centers under the supervision of the Welfare Organization of Isfahan in 2016. In order to select the sample, 50 couples (50 men and 50 women) referred were selected from several counseling centers in Isfahan. However, a set of questionnaires including Minnesota short-form (1967), Matson's social skills questionnaire (1983), and domestic violence questionnaire (Tabriz, et al, 2012) was applied to measure the study variables. In order to test the hypotheses, Regression analysis was conducted using SPSS-22 software. The results showed that social skills negatively predict three personality traits including hypochondriasis, depression, and hysteria and positively predict changes in the domestic violence among the couples. Based on the findings, personality traits and social skills recognized as the most important factors in the occurrence of domestic violence among couples. Therefore, it is suggested that psychologists and family counselors considered these factors as effective and use them in their psychological interventions in domestic violence in order to obtain better outcomes as well as applied these in workshops on the personality characteristics and social skills for couples

Abstract

The aim of the present study was to investigate the prediction of Psychological Hardiness based on communication patterns between couples and conflict resolution styles in married men affected by an extramarital affair. This research was descriptive and correlational. The statistical population of this study was married men affected by the extramarital affair of their spouses who were referred to welfare counseling centers in Mashhad in the first three months of 1400, from which 80 people were selected by Purposive sampling. The research instruments included the Ahvaz Psychological Hardiness Scale (AHI) (Kiamarsi et al., 1998), the Couples Communication Pattern Questionnaire (CPQ) (Christens and Salavai, 1991), and the Conflict Resolution Styles Questionnaire (ROCI-2) (Rahim, 1983). Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression were used to analyze the data. Findings showed that the constructive relationship model of reciprocity and compromise conflict resolution styles, integration, and binding with psychological rigidity have a positive and significant relationship (P <0.01) and communication patterns of expectation/withdrawal and mutual avoidance. And avoidance conflict resolution styles, integration, and domination had a negative and significant relationship with psychological hardiness (P <0.01). Regression results also showed that constructive interaction, expectation/withdrawal, mutual avoidance, integration, domination, and compulsion styles were able to reduce 0.56 psychological hardiness in married men affected by extramarital affairs. Predict (P <0.05). Considering that psychological hardiness in married men affected by the extramarital affair is related to communication patterns between couples and conflict resolution styles, it is necessary to hold workshops based on these concepts in this group of people. Arrives.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of couple therapy based on acceptance and commitment (ACT) and emotionally-focused couple therapy (EFCT) on marital forgiveness of women affected by extramarital relationships. The method of the present study was semi-experimental with pre-test and post-test with a control group. The statistical population included all women affected by extramarital relationships who were referred to counseling centers in Gorgan in the first 9 months of 1399 Using the purposive sampling method, 45 people were selected, and then They were randomly divided into three groups of 15 people. The first experimental group received emotionally-focused couple therapy and the second experimental group received couple therapy based on acceptance and commitment in 12 sessions of 90 minutes twice a week. The research instrument was the Marital Forgiveness Questionnaire (MFQ) of Ray et al. (2001). Data were analyzed by repeated-measures analysis of variance using SPSS-16 software at a significance level of 0.05. Both approaches of EFCT and ACT have a significant effect on marital forgiveness in the post-test and follow-up stages (P <0/01). The results also showed that acceptance and commitment-based couple therapy had a greater effect on marital forgiveness (P=0/002), presence of positive (P=0/001), and absence of negative (p=0/014) than emotionally-focused couple therapy. As a result, both interventions can be used to increase marital forgiveness but given the greater effectiveness of acceptance and commitment-based couple therapy, this approach is preferred.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to predict marital boredom based on social comparison and the exchange style of couples. The research method was descriptive-correlational. The statistical population was married people with marital boredom in Tehran in the first half of 2021, of which 298 people were selected as a sample using the available sampling method. Data collection tools were Couple Burnout Measure (CBM) Pines (1996), Social Exchange Styles Questionnaire (SESQ) Leybman et al. (2011), and Social Comparison Questionnaire (SCQ) Gibbons & Buunk (1999). Data were analyzed by SPSS24 software using multiple Regression analyses. The results showed that social comparison and exchange styles of follow-up, individualism, and utilitarianism have a positive relationship with marital boredom, while exchange styles of fairness and extreme investment were negatively correlated with marital boredom (p<0.01). 35% of the total variance of marital boredom was explained by couple exchange styles and social comparison (p<0.001). Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that the social comparison and the maladaptive style of the couple exchange cause their marital boredom.
