Abstract: (2629 Views)
The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between hope and academic self-efficacy, on the one hand, and academic buoyancy, on the other hand, considering the mediating role of happiness among high school students. The study was descriptive with a correlational design. The statistical population included all senior high school students in Kashan, Iran, in the 2016 academic year. Using multi-stage, stratified (based on gender) sampling and Krejcie & Morgan Table, 431 students including 187 males and 244 females were selected. The respondents filled out Lybomersky happiness scale, Academic Buoyancy Scale - short form, and McIlroy & Bunting Academic Self-efficacy Questionnaire. Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Hierarchical Regression Analysis were run in SPSS-22 to analyze the data. The results indicated that hope and happiness could predict students’ academic buoyancy. Also, happiness has a mediating role in the relationship between hope and academic self-efficacy, on the one hand, and academic buoyancy, on the other side. Hence, it could be concluded that by increasing the level of hope and academic self-efficacy, happiness can be increased, thereby helping to improve the academic Buoyancy of students and enhance their ability to solve their educational challenges and obstacles.
