Abstract: (224 Views)
The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the treatment based on acceptance and commitment to coherent self-knowledge and reducing self-injurious behaviors in self-injurious delinquent teenagers of the correctional center. This was a semi-experimental study with a pre-test/post-test design and a control group with a 3-month follow-up period. The statistical population of the study was all delinquent male teenagers who had experienced self-harm in Tehran Correctional Center in 2022, out of which 36 people were selected using the purposeful sampling method. These numbers were randomly replaced in two treatment groups based on acceptance and commitment, and the control group. Data were collected using the self-concept questionnaire of Ghorbani et al. (2008, ISK) and Klonsky et al.'s self-injurious behaviors (2009, ISAS). Treatment intervention based on acceptance and commitment was implemented in 10 sessions of 90 minutes once a week. The data were analyzed using an analysis of variance with repeated measurements. The findings showed that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test averages of self-awareness and self-injurious behaviors at the 0.05 level, and in addition, there was a significant difference at the 0.05 level between the post-test and follow-up averages of these two variables. From the above findings, it can be concluded that the treatment based on acceptance and commitment is effective and long-lasting in improving self-awareness and self-harming behaviors.
