Abstract: (32 Views)
The present study was conducted with the aim of predicting emotional regulation in breast cancer patients based on mentalization, perception of social support, and pain management. The research method was descriptive-correlation. The statistical population included women with breast cancer in Tehran in 2023. The sample size was 150 people who were selected available sampling method. The research tools include Mentalization Questionnaire (RFQ) Fonagy et al. (1998), Pain Management Strategies Questionnaire (PMSS) Rosenstein and Keef (1983), Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) Zimmet et al. (1988), and short form Cognitive Regulation of Emotion questionnaire (CERQ-short) Garnofsky and Kraij (2006). The results of the multiple regression test showed that pain reinterpretation (P=0.03 and β=0.19), self-talk (P=0.03 and β=0.17), certainty (P=0.001 and β=0.35) β=0) and social support from others (P=0.05 and β=0.15) significant predictors of positive emotion regulation and return attention (P=0.001 and β=0.19), catastrophizing (P=009 and β=0.19) and social support of others (P=0.02 and β=-0.17) were significant predictors of negative emotion regulation. Also, the results showed that the predictor variables were able to predict 0.24 and 0.34 of the variance of positive and negative emotional regulation, respectively. The result of the present study shows that attention to mentalization, perception of social support, and pain management by psychologists can help to explain emotional regulation in breast cancer patients.
