Abstract: (250 Views)
The present study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of group therapy based on compassion on the psychological well-being and marital adjustment of women affected by domestic violence. The research method was semi-experimental, with a pre-test/post-test design, a control group, and a one-month follow-up period. The statistical population included all the women affected by domestic violence in Mahabad city who had referred to the Giro Counseling and Psychological Services Center in 2023 for counseling services. From this population, 30 people were selected using purposive sampling and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups (15 people in each group). The experimental group underwent 10 sessions of 75 minutes under the compassion-based therapy program. The measurement tools were the psychological well-being questionnaire (RSPWB, Rif, 1995) and marital adjustment (DAS, Spanier, 1976). Data analysis was done using the repeated measurement variance analysis method. The findings showed that there was a significant difference at the 0.001 level between the pre-test and the post-test of psychological well-being and marital adjustment in the experimental and control groups, and there was no significant difference at the 0.001 level between the post-test and follow-up averages in the experimental group. The results were maintained in the follow-up period. Based on the results of the research, it can be said that group therapy based on compassion is a suitable intervention method to improve the psychological well-being and marital adjustment of women affected by domestic violence.
