This research was conducted with the aim of determining the mediating role of interpersonal problems in the relationship between internet gaming disorder and social anxiety in adolescents. This was a descriptive correlational research of the structural equation modeling type. The statistical population of this study was the first and second-year high school students in Tehran in 2023. The sample size in this study was considered to be 251 people, which was determined by the available sampling method through schools. To collect data from the Interpersonal Problems Questionnaire (IIP-32; Barkham et al., 1996), the short form of the Internet Gaming Disorder Scale (IGDS9-SF; Pontz and Griffiths, 2015), and the Social Anxiety Questionnaire (SPIN; Connor et al., 2000) was used. The results showed that the direct effect of internet gaming disorder and interpersonal problems on social anxiety was significant, Also, the effect of internet gaming disorder on interpersonal problems was significant (P<0.05). The results of the bootstrap test showed that interpersonal problems played a mediating role in the relationship between Internet gaming disorder and social anxiety in adolescents (P<0.05). The results indicated that internet gaming disorder has a direct effect on the level of social anxiety of adolescents through the mediation of interpersonal problems.
