Abstract: (75 Views)
This research was conducted to investigate the mediating role of marital satisfaction in the relationship between attachment styles and perceived stress. The current study was a descriptive-correlation type of structural equation modeling. The statistical population of this research was all married students of Islamic Azad University, South Tehran branch, in the academic year of 2023. Using the available sampling method, a sample of 250 people was selected and participated in the study. Research tools included: the perceived stress scale (PSS, Cohen & et al, 1983), adult attachment questionnaire (AAQ, Hazan & Shaver, 1987), and the Enrich Marital Satisfaction scale (EMS, Fowers & Olson, 1993). The data were analyzed using the structural equation analysis method. The structural equation analysis results indicated the model's appropriate fit. The findings indicated that secure attachment style was able to predict perceived stress both directly and indirectly through marital satisfaction (p<0.001). Furthermore, both anxious and avoidant insecure attachment styles were able to predict perceived stress in married students indirectly through marital satisfaction (p<0.001). These results suggest that both secure and insecure attachment styles, considering the important role of marital satisfaction, can explain perceived stress. Therefore, it is essential to consider these factors in interaction with each other in programs aimed at reducing perceived stress.
