The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of dialectical behavior therapy on referential thinking and the quality of marital relationships in working married women. The present study was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test-post-test design and a control group. The statistical population of the study included all employed people in Tehran in 2024, from which 30 people were selected using the convenience sampling method and randomly assigned to two groups (15 people in the experimental group and 15 people in the control group) who were randomly placed in two experimental and control groups. The measurement tools included the Ehring et al. Referential Thinking Questionnaire (PTQ, 2010) and the Quality of Marital Relationships (RDAS, 1995). The experimental group underwent dialectical behavior therapy intervention for 10 sessions of 90 minutes once a week, and the control group did not receive any intervention. Multivariate analysis of covariance was used for analysis. The results of the analysis of covariance showed that by controlling for the pre-test effect, there was a significant difference at the 0.05 level between the mean of referential thinking and the quality of marital relationships in the experimental and control groups. It is concluded that dialectical behavior therapy is effective in improving referential thinking and the quality of marital relationships in working married women.
