The problematic personality characteristics as well as personality disorders impose many restrictions and expenses on the person, the family, the society, and the health care system. Personality problems and disorders have always been challenging for therapists. In the present study, the PTC model of paradox therapy for the treatment of personality problems is introduced. The PTC model of paradox therapy for a 28-year-old girl (KB) suffering from personality problems is well reported. The patient completed the Mental Health Inventory (MHI-28), Ego Strength Scale (ESS), and Treatment Outcome Subjective Rating Scale (TOSRS). Four sessions of the PTC model of paradox therapy for the treatment of KB personality problems revealed that this model of paradox therapy was very effective. Therapeutic changes and improvements were rated approximately more than 90%. The result of a three-year follow-up study showed that the therapeutic changes were satisfactory, stable, and permanent, during which no relapse occurred. Based on the therapeutic results for the treatment of KB personality problems, it can be concluded that the PTC model of paradox therapy for personality problems and disorders is an effective and efficient treatment. The follow-up results confirmed the stability of therapeutic changes over time, supporting deep and permanent effects of the PTC model of paradox therapy. Therefore, the PTC model of paradox therapy can be considered as a very short-term yet economical approach for the treatment of personality problems and disorders.
