The aim of the present study was to determine the effectiveness of hope-based education on death anxiety, hope, and loneliness in the elderly. The research method was a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test-post-test and control group design. The statistical population of the study was elderly people over 70 years old living in a nursing home in Khorramabad in 1403. To select the research sample, 50 people were selected using convenience sampling and randomly assigned to two groups of 25 people (25 people in the experimental group and 25 people in the control group). Participants in the experimental group received hope-based education in 8 sessions of 90 minutes each, and the control group did not receive the experiment. The research data were collected using the Death Anxiety Questionnaire (DAS, Templer, 1970), Hope (HQ, Schneider et al., 1991), and Loneliness Questionnaire (UCLA, Russell et al., 1980) and analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance. The findings showed that by controlling for the pre-test effect, there was a significant difference at the 0.01 level between the mean of death anxiety, hope, and loneliness in the elderly. According to the results of the present study, it can be concluded that empowering the elderly with hope-based education is one of the effective educational approaches on death anxiety, hope, and loneliness in the elderly.
