Abstract: (655 Views)
The present study aimed to investigate the mediating role of children's autonomy support in the relationship between parental acceptance and mothers' parental satisfaction. The present research was a descriptive-correlational study of the structural equation modeling type. The statistical population included mothers residing in Tehran in 2024, and the sample consisted of 233 mothers selected through convenience sampling. The instruments used in this study included the subscales of Children's Autonomy Support (PBDQ; Reid et al., 2015), Parental Acceptance (PPF; Burke & Moore, 2015), and Parental Satisfaction (PSOC-R; Gilmore & Cuskelly, 2024). Data were analyzed using structural equation method. The results indicated a good model fit. Structural equation analysis revealed that parental acceptance had a significant direct effect on both parental satisfaction and children's autonomy support, and that children's autonomy support also had a significant direct effect on parental satisfaction (P < 0.001). Moreover, the findings showed that children's autonomy support plays a mediating role in the relationship between parental acceptance and parental satisfaction (P < 0.001). The results of the present study emphasize the importance of parental interaction based on acceptance and independence in improving the parenting experience and can be used in designing educational interventions for parents.
