Abstract: (3 Views)
The present study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of schema therapy on impulsivity and resilience in male prisoners. The present study was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test-post-test design and a control group with a three-month follow-up period. The statistical population of this study included male prisoners in Kermanshah in 2024. 30 prisoners were selected through purposive sampling and randomly assigned to two experimental (15 people) and control (15 people) groups. The Barratt Impulsivity Scale (BIS-11; Patton et al., 1995) and the Connor and Davidson Resilience Scale (RISC-CD; Connor and Davidson, 2003) were used to collect data. Schema therapy group sessions were conducted based on the Young et al. protocol during ten 90-minute sessions. Data analysis was performed using repeated measures analysis of variance. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test of impulsivity and resilience in the experimental group (P<0.05), and there was also no significant difference between the post-test and follow-up mean in the experimental group, and the results were maintained in the follow-up period (P<0.05). The findings of this study showed that schema therapy was effective in reducing impulsivity and increasing resilience in male prisoners.
