Abstract:   (21 Views)
The aim of the research was to determine the effectiveness of short-term intensive dynamic psychotherapy on the I-position and conservative thinking in individuals with experiential avoidance. The research method was quasi-experimental with a pre-test–post-test design and a control group. The statistical population of this study consisted of individuals with experiential avoidance who were referred to psychotherapy clinics in the city of Khorramabad in the year 2025. The sample size was 30 participants, who were selected using purposive sampling and randomly assigned to the experimental group (15 participants) and the control group (15 participants). The Multidimensional Experiential Avoidance Questionnaire (MEAQ, Gámez et al., 2011), the Revised Differentiation of Self Inventory (DSI-R, Skowron & Schmitt, 2001), the Thinking Styles Questionnaire (STSQ, Sternberg & Wagner, 1993), and a 10-session protocol (one session per week, each session 60 minutes) of short-term intensive dynamic psychotherapy (Ghorbani, 2024) were used for data collection and intervention. Data analysis was performed using multivariate analysis of covariance. The findings showed that, after controlling for the effect of the pre-test, there was a significant difference between the post-test means of I-position and conservative thinking in the experimental and control groups (p<0.001). From the above findings, it can be concluded that short-term intensive dynamic psychotherapy significantly increased and improved the I-position and reduced conservative thinking in individuals with experiential avoidance.
