Abstract: (52 Views)
This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) group training on thought control and cognitive emotion regulation in female students. The present research method was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest design and a control group. The statistical population of this study consisted of female high school students in Tehran during the 2023–2024 academic year. A total of 44 participants were selected through convenience sampling and randomly assigned to two groups of 22 (experimental and control groups). Data collection and intervention were conducted using the Thought Control Questionnaire (TCQ; Wells & Davies, 2003), the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ; Garnefski et al., 2001), and an eight-session protocol (one session per week, each lasting 90 minutes) of the mindfulness-based stress reduction program. Data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance. The results showed that, after controlling for the pretest effect, there was a significant difference between the posttest means of thought control and adaptive and maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation in the experimental and control groups (p<0.001). It can be concluded that MBSR significantly improved thought control and adaptive cognitive emotion regulation and decreased maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation in female students.
