Abstract: (13 Views)
The present study aimed to predict social adaptation based on anxiety sensitivity, basic psychological needs and psychological capital in high school students. This study was descriptive-correlational. The statistical population of the study was students of the first and second levels of high schools in District 5 of Tehran in the first semester of the academic year 2023-2024. Using a multi-stage random cluster sampling method, 452 students were selected and responded to the Student Social Adaptation Questionnaire (SSAQ, Sinha and Singh, 1993), Anxiety Sensitivity Questionnaire (ASQ, Taylor and Cox, 1998), Basic Psychological Needs Questionnaire (BPNQ, LaGuardia et al., 2000), and Psychological Capital Questionnaire (PCQ, Luthans et al., 2007). Data were analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient and standard multivariate regression. The results indicated that 35% of the variance in students' social adaptation can be predicted based on anxiety sensitivity, basic psychological needs and psychological capital (P<0.001). Also, dimensions of psychological capital (P<0.001, Beta≥0.36) and dimensions of basic psychological needs (P<0.01, Beta≥0.32) were positively predictive of social adaptation in high school students, while dimensions of anxiety sensitivity (P<0.05, Beta≥-0.20) was negatively predictive of social adaptation in high school students. In general, it can be concluded that psychological capital and satisfaction of basic psychological needs are positively related, and anxiety sensitivity is negatively related, to social adaptation in high school students.
