Abstract: (157 Views)
The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of Group Dattilio’s Cognitive Behavioral Couple Therapy on family functioning and marital dissatisfaction among women applying for divorce. The research method was quasi-experimental with a pretest–posttest design and a control group. The statistical population consisted of women applying for divorce who referred to counseling centers in Qom city in 2025. The sample consisted of 30 participants who were selected using convenience sampling and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups (15 participants in each group). The Family Assessment Device (FAD; Epstein et al., 1983), the Marital Disaffection Scale (MDS; Kayser, 1993), and a 10-session protocol of Dattilio’s Cognitive Behavioral Couple Therapy (two sessions per week, each lasting 90 minutes) were used for data collection and intervention. Data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA). After controlling for the pretest effect, the findings showed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in posttest mean scores for family functioning and marital disaffection (p<0.001). Cognitive Behavioral Couple Therapy improved participants’ family functioning scores and reduced their marital disaffection scores. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that Dattilio’s Cognitive Behavioral Couple Therapy significantly improves family functioning and reduces marital disaffection among women applying for divorce.
