This study aimed to determine the mediating role of intolerance of uncertainty in the relationship between emotional reactivity and psychological well-being in students with maladaptive perfectionism. The present descriptive-correlational study employed structural equation modeling. The statistical population of this study was students with maladaptive perfectionism at Islamic Azad University, Lahijan Branch, in 2025, from which 200 people were selected through purposive sampling. To collect data, the Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale (IUS; Buhr & Dugas, 2002), the Emotional Reactivity Scale (ERS; Nock et al., 2008), the Ryff Scales of Psychological Well-Being (RSPWB; Ryff, 1995), and the Almost Perfect Scale—Revised (APS-R; Slaney et al., 2001) were used. Data analysis was performed using structural equation modeling. The examination of the fit indices showed that the proposed model had a good fit; the findings related to the direct relationships showed that emotional reactivity and intolerance of uncertainty had a negative and significant direct relationship with psychological well-being; emotional reactivity also had a positive and significant direct relationship with intolerance of uncertainty (P<0.05); the results of the bootstrap test showed that intolerance of uncertainty had a mediating role in the relationship between emotional reactivity and psychological well-being (P<0.05). From the overall findings, it can be concluded that emotional reactivity was directly related to psychological well-being in students with maladaptive perfectionism through the mediation of intolerance of uncertainty.
