This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of Mentalization-Based Group Treatment on emotion regulation skills and aggressive behaviors in male children victims of domestic violence. The research employed a quasi-experimental design using a pretest-posttest structure with a control group. The statistical population comprised male children victims of domestic violence with files at the Health Centers of District 7, Tehran, in the year 2026. Among the target population, using a purposive sampling method based on inclusion criteria, 30 male children were selected and randomly assigned to the experimental and control groups (n=15 in each). The measurement tools in this study was the Emotion Regulation Checklist (ERC; Shields & Cicchetti, 1997) and the Aggression Questionnaire (BPAQ; Buss & Perry, 1992). The MBGT was delivered to the experimental group over 8 sessions of 90 minutes in a group setting. The research data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance. The results showed that, after controlling for the pretest effect, there was a significant difference between the posttest scores of the experimental and control groups in emotion regulation skills and aggressive behaviors P< .01. Therefore, it can be concluded that MBGT, it is effective in improving emotion regulation skills and reducing aggressive behaviors of male children of victims of domestic violence.
