Abstract:   (178 Views)
The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of group cognitive-behavioral training on emotion regulation, self-control, and internet gaming addiction in adolescents with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The research method was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest design and a control group. The statistical population of the study included adolescents aged 11 to 18 years diagnosed with ADHD who were referred to treatment centers in Khorramabad in 2025, from whom 30 individuals were selected through purposive sampling and randomly placed in two groups (15 people in the control group and 15 people in the experimental group). Data were collected from Gross and John’s Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ, 2003), Tangney et al.‘s Brief Self-Control Scale (BSCS, 2004), and Pontes and Griffiths’ Internet Gaming Disorder Scale–Short Form (IGDS9-SF, 2015). The experimental group underwent group cognitive-behavioral training in eight 90-minute sessions once a week in a group. Multivariate analysis of covariance was used for analysis. The results showed that by controlling for the pretest effect, there was a significant difference between the mean of the posttest emotion regulation, self-control, and internet gaming addiction scores of the experimental and control groups at the P<0.001 level. As a result, group cognitive-behavioral training can be used as an effective educational method to enhance emotion regulation and self-control and to reduce internet gaming addiction in adolescents with ADHD.
