Abstract: (12 Views)
This research aimed to compare the effectiveness of compassion-focused therapy (CFT) and schema therapy on self-criticism in people with childhood trauma. The present research method was the type of quasi-experimental study with a pre-test, post-test design and a control group with a two-month follow-up period. The population of this research included female students with childhood trauma in Rasht in the year 2025; among them, 58 students were selected by purposive sampling and randomly assigned to two experimental groups and a control group (each group 22 people). Due to the loss of participants, 18 remained in the CFT group, 19 in the schema therapy group, and 21 in the control group. The research questionnaire was the levels of self-criticism scale (LOSC) (Thompson & Zurov, 2004). Repeated measures analysis of variance and Bonferroni post hoc test were used to analyze the data. The results showed that the pre-test scores of self-criticism in both interventions had a significant difference with the post-test and follow-up scores (P<0.05). Also, the results indicated that there was a significant difference between the two treatments over time (P<0.05), which shows the greater effectiveness of compassion-focused therapy than schema therapy on self-criticism in people with childhood trauma. Therefore, it can be concluded that both treatments are effective as a stable intervention on self-criticism in people with childhood trauma; But CFT is more effective.
