Abstract: (217 Views)
The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of emotionally focused couple therapy on sexual schemas and sexual satisfaction of conflicted women. The research method was semi-experimental with a pre-test-post-test design and a control group. The statistical population of the present study consisted of all conflicted women who were referred to counseling and psychology clinics in Karaj city in 2023, and 30 of them were selected by non-random and available sampling method, and were randomly placed in two groups (15 people in the experimental group and 15 people in the control group). The measurement tools included Sanaie's Marital Conflicts Questionnaire (MCQ, 2000), Andersen & Cyranowski's Women sexual-self Schema Questionnaire (WSSS, 1994), and Meston & Trapnell's Sexual Satisfaction Scale for Women (SSS-W, 2005). The experimental group received Johnson's emotionally focused couple therapy sessions during 10 sessions of 90 minutes and once a week. Data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance. The results showed that by controlling the effect of the pre-test, there is a significant difference between the mean of the post-test of sexual schema and sexual satisfaction in the two experimental and control groups at the p<0.05 level. As a result, emotion-oriented couple therapy can be used as an effective treatment method to improve the sexual schema and increase the marital sexual satisfaction of conflicted women.
