Abstract: (383 Views)
The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of Johnson and Greenberg's emotion-oriented couple therapy on enriching intimacy and preventing couples' marital frustration. The method of this research was semi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test design with a control group. The statistical population included all the couples who were referred to counseling centers in the 5th and 6th regions of Isfahan City in 2023. An available sampling method was used to select the sample and 16 couples were randomly divided into two experimental (8 couples) and control (8 couples) groups. The experimental group received emotion-oriented couple therapy intervention in 9 sessions of 60 minutes, and the control group did not receive any intervention. The research tools included the marital intimacy questionnaire (MIQ; Oliya et al., 2015) and the Marital Disaffection Scale (MDS; Kayser, 1993). Multivariate covariance analysis was used to analyze the data. The results showed that by controlling the effect of the pre-test, there was a significant difference between the post-test of the experimental and control groups in marital intimacy and marital frustration. Based on the results of the present study, it can be said that Greenberg and Johnson’s couple therapy is an effective treatment for reducing marital frustration and increasing marital intimacy.
