Abstract: (95 Views)
Strengths-based parenting is an approach where parents assist their children in identifying and cultivating their strengths while encouraging them to utilize these strengths. The present study aimed to systematically review the function of strength-based parenting. All published articles on the function of strength-based parenting in adolescents from 2015 to 2024 (1394 to 1403) were examined. To access the articles, the keywords "positive parenting" and "strength-based parenting" were searched in the titles and abstracts of published articles in specialized databases such as Noor Journals, the Comprehensive Human Sciences Portal, Scientific Information Database (SID), Iranian Research Institute for Information Science and Technology, and Magiran. Additionally, the keywords "positive parenting" and "strength-based parenting" were investigated in databases including Scopus, Science Direct, Elsevier, Google Scholar, and Semantic Scholar. In the initial search, 39 articles were identified; however, after evaluations based on inclusion and exclusion criteria—including availability of full text and focus on adolescent samples—and following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, a total of 15 articles were included in the study. The results indicated that strength-based parenting has an inverse relationship with anxiety, depression, psychological distress, and stress, while it has a direct relationship with well-being, life satisfaction, self-efficacy, mental toughness, and positive academic outcomes such as academic motivation, school belonging, academic engagement, and reduced academic burnout. Strengths-based parenting in adolescents is important and can profoundly affect mental health, academic performance, and well-being.
