Abstract: (33 Views)
The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy on sexual intimacy, marital relationship quality, and marital silence of conflicting couples. The research method is semi-experimental with a pre-test, and post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of this study was all conflicting couples who were referred to counseling centers in Kerman City during the six months of summer and autumn of 2023. from this population, 30 couples were selected using the available sampling method and randomly divided into experimental groups and control groups. The research tools included the Sexual Intimacy Questionnaire (SIQ, Batlaei et al., 2010), the Marital Relationship Quality Questionnaire (RADS, Busby et al., 1995), and the Marital Silence Questionnaire (MSQ, Rezaei and Rasouli, 2019). Participants in the experimental group were placed in a 75-minute cognitive behavioral therapy session for 10 sessions, one session per week. Multivariate analysis of the covariance test was used to analyze the data. The results showed that, after controlling for the pre-test effect, there was a significant difference at the p<0.05 level between the mean post-test scores of sexual intimacy, marital relationship quality, and marital silence of conflicting couples in the experimental and control groups. The findings of the present study indicate the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy on sexual intimacy, marital relationship quality, and marital silence in couples.
