The present descriptive-correlational study was conducted using structural equation modeling. The statistical population in this study included all married students of Islamic Azad University, Rasht Branch, in 2024, from which 220 people were selected as samples using convenience sampling. The Fear of Missing out Scale (FoMoS; Wegmann et al., 2017), General Phubbing Scale (GSP; Chotpitayasonvand & Douglas, 2018), and Basic Psychological Need Satisfaction Scales (PNSS; Deci and Ryan, 2000) were used to collect data. Data analysis was performed using structural equation modeling. The results showed that the proposed model has a good fit. The results also showed that the direct effects of psychological needs and fear of missing out on phubbing behavior were significant; The direct effect of psychological needs on fear of loss was significant (P<0.05); the results of the bootstrap test showed that fear of missing out played a mediating role in the relationship between psychological needs and phubbing behavior (P<0.05). In summary, it can be concluded that psychological needs directly and through the mediating role of fear of missing out affected phubbing behavior in married students.
