The present study aimed to determine the mediating role of career decision-making self-efficacy in the relationship between academic identity and lack of work volition in adolescent girls The current descriptive correlation research was of structural equation modeling type. The statistical population of this research included female students of the second secondary level in Kermanshah in 2023-2024. 303 people participated in this study using a multi-stage cluster method and responded to the Academic Identity Scale (AIS; Vaz & Isaacson, 2008), the Work Volition Scale-Students Version (WVS-SV; Duffy et al., 2012), and the Short Form of the Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy Scale (CDSE; by Betts & Taylor, 1996). Data analysis was done by structural equation modeling method. The results showed that the proposed model was a good fit. The results showed that the direct effect of academic identity had a positive effect on career decision-making self-efficacy, while career decision-making self-efficacy had a negative effect on lack of work volition (P<0.001) and the path of academic identity on lack of work volition was not significant (P=0.195). The results of the bootstrap test showed that career decision-making self-efficacy had a significant mediating role (P<0.001) between academic identity and lack of work volition. The results of this study indicate that academic identity has an effect on lack of work volition through the mediation of career decision-making self-efficacy.
