The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of positive parenting training on parenting stress and parental self-efficacy of mothers with ADHD/ADHD children. The present study employed a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test-post-test format and a control group, followed by a two-month follow-up period. The statistical population of the present study consisted of all parents with ADHD children who referred to clinics and counseling centers in District 5 of Tehran in 2022-2024. Among them, 30 parents with ADHD children were selected purposively and randomly assigned to two experimental (15 people) and control (15 people) groups. The research instruments included Abidin's Parenting Stress Index-Short Form (PSI-SF, 1995) and Dumka's Parental Self-Agency Measure (PSAM, 1996). Positive parenting training was implemented in 8 90-minute sessions twice a week in a group setting for the experimental group. At the same time, the control group did not receive any intervention. Data were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of variance. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the groups in post-test and follow-up parenting stress and parental self-efficacy (P<0.05), and positive parenting training had a lasting effect in the follow-up period (P<0.05). As a result, positive parenting training can be used as an efficient method in increasing parental self-efficacy and parenting stress in mothers with ADHD children.
