Abstract: (28 Views)
This study aimed to investigate the mediating role of anxiety in the relationship between childhood trauma and students’ Addictability. The research method was descriptive-correlational and based on structural equation modeling (SEM). The statistical population consisted of middle school students in Pakdasht County during the 2024–2025 academic year. From this population, 200 individuals were selected through convenience sampling, considering inclusion and exclusion criteria based on Klein’s (2023) recommendation. Data collection tools included the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ; Bernstein et al., 2003), the Drug Use Tendency Questionnaire (DUTQ; Mousavi et al., 1999), and the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI; Beck, 1988). Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The results showed that the data had an acceptable fit with the conceptual model and were confirmed. According to the structural model, the direct effects of childhood trauma and anxiety on students' addiction potential were significant (p < .01). Furthermore, the indirect effect of childhood trauma on addiction potential through anxiety was also significant (p < .01). Therefore, anxiety can play a mediating role in the relationship between childhood trauma and students’ addiction potential.
