Abstract:   (26 Views)
The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of a positive parenting training program on executive functions and emotion regulation in children between the ages of 10 and 12 years with separation anxiety disorder. The research method was a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test-post-test and control group design with a one-month follow-up period. The statistical population included children with symptoms of separation anxiety disorder referred to educational counseling centers and nuclei in Tehran and their parents in 2024. The research sample consisted of 30 children and their mothers, who were selected purposively based on entry criteria and randomly assigned to the experimental and control groups  (15 people in each group). Mothers in the experimental group underwent 8 sessions of a positive parenting training program. Data were collected using the Coolidge Personality and Neuropsychological Inventory for Children (CPNI; Coolidge et al., 2002) and the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ; Gross and John, 2003). Data were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of variance in SPSS software. The findings showed that there was a significant difference at the 0.001 level between the pre-test and post-test of executive functions and emotion regulation (re-evaluation) in the experimental and control groups. There was no statistically significant difference at the 0.001 level between the post-test and follow-up means in the experimental group. The results were maintained during the follow-up period. Overall, the results of the study indicated the effectiveness of the positive parenting training program on children's executive functions and emotion regulation.
