Abstract: (17 Views)
The present study aimed to determine the mediating role of virtual social comparison on the relationship between attachment styles and cyberbullying and victimization. The research method was descriptive-correlational, structural equation modeling. The statistical population includes girl students in the second year of high school in Tehran in the academic year 2024-2025, of which 321 were selected as samples using a multi-stage cluster method. The CBVEQ (Antoniadou et al., 2016), the RAAS (Collins, 1996), and the SCOS (Gibbons & Buunk, 1999) were used to collect data. Data analysis was performed using structural equation modeling. The results showed that the proposed model had a favorable fit. It was also found that the relationship between secure attachment and bullying and victimization was negatively significant, and the relationship between anxious attachment and cyber victimization was positively significant (p<0.001). The relationship between anxious attachment and cyberbullying was not significant (p>0.05). Social comparison had a positive and significant relationship with bullying and cyber victimization (p<0.001). Another finding of the study showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between anxious and avoidant attachment and virtual comparison (p<0.001). Finally, the results of the bootstrap analysis showed that virtual comparison had a significant (p<0.001) mediating role in the relationship between attachment styles and bullying and cyber victimization. This indicates that attachment styles, given the important role of virtual comparison, can explain cyberbullying and victimization, and it is essential to pay attention to these factors in programs to reduce cyberbullying and victimization.
