Abstract:   (30 Views)
The present study aimed to compare the effectiveness of compassion-focused therapy and emotion-focused therapy-based education on impulsivity in adolescents with depressive symptoms and a history of suicide attempts. The study was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group and a two-month follow-up period. The statistical population of the study included adolescent girls with depressive symptoms and attempted suicide in Abadan in 2024. 60 people were selected using purposeful sampling and randomly assigned to three groups of 20 people. Data were collected using the Barratt Impulsivity Scale (BIS-11; Patton et al, 1995). Repeated measures analysis of variance was used in data analysis. The results showed that the mean impulsivity scores in the two intervention groups decreased significantly compared to the control group from pre-test to post-test (P<0.05) and from pre-test to follow-up (P<0.05), indicating the stability of changes over time. However, the findings showed that there was no significant difference between the mean scores of the two intervention groups at the follow-up stage (P>0.05). Therefore, both interventions were effective in reducing impulsivity in adolescents with depressive symptoms and a history of suicide attempts.
