Abstract: (58 Views)
Systematic reviews serve as the foundation of evidence-based decision-making, where rigorous quality assessment ensures research credibility. This study employed a mixed-methods approach to develop a framework for evaluating systematic review quality in psychology. The qualitative phase identified key indicators through standardized checklists, while the quantitative phase (May-August 2024) systematically searched Magiran and Ensani databases, selecting 18 psychology articles (2021-2023) after applying inclusion/exclusion criteria. Articles were evaluated using a researcher-developed checklist, with data analyzed through descriptive statistics and binomial tests. Results produced a 44-indicator framework across 8 quality domains. Compliance with standards ranged from 41.65% to 100% (mean: 61.35%), with highest quality in references, discussions, and abstracts. Significant deficiencies appeared in methods (protocol specification, data analysis description), results (bias reporting), and disclosure of funding/conflicts of interest. This research provides: (1) a validated appraisal tool for systematic reviews, (2) identification of critical improvement areas in Persian psychological literature, and (3) advancement of methodological rigor in research synthesis. The developed framework offers researchers a comprehensive approach to assess review quality, while the findings highlight specific weaknesses requiring attention in future studies. The 61.35% overall adherence rate indicates substantial room for improvement, particularly in methodological transparency and reporting of potential biases. These results contribute to enhancing the reliability of systematic reviews in psychology and provide clear directions for elevating scholarly standards in the field.
