Abstract: (24 Views)
The present study aimed to investigate the psychometric properties of the Positive School Transition Readiness Questionnaire (PSTRS) in a sample of Iranian students. The present study was applied and correlational in terms of method. The statistical population included sixth-grade students in Mashhad in the academic year 1403-1404, of whom 324 people were selected using convenience sampling and completed the questionnaire. The instruments of this study included the Positive School Transition Readiness Questionnaire (PSTRS, Bharara & Duncan, 2024), Academic Well-Being (AWBQ, Tuominen-Soini et al., 2012), and Academic Burnout (SBI, Salmela-Aro & Näätänen, 2005). Confirmatory factor analysis, Pearson correlation, and reliability calculation with Cronbach's alpha and McDonald's omega were used to analyze the data. The results showed that the factor structure of the PSTRS questionnaire, after removing 12 questions, consists of 13 factors and 59 questions. Also, a significant positive correlation between PSTRS components and academic well-being and a negative correlation with academic burnout confirmed the convergent and divergent validity of the instrument (p<0.01). The reliability of the questionnaire was also acceptable, with Cronbach's alpha coefficients between 0.61 and 0.87 and McDonald's omega coefficients between 0.67 and 0.86. The results of this study show that the Persian version of the 13-factor scale is a valid and reliable instrument for measuring the readiness of Iranian students in the transition from elementary to secondary school. The applications of this instrument in the fields of education, research, and policymaking have been discussed.
