The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between body image dissatisfaction and alexithymia with smartphone addiction in adolescents. The present study was descriptive-correlational. The statistical population of the study included all male and female students of the second secondary school in the 3rd district of Tabriz in the academic year of 1398-99. A sample of 150 people was selected by multistage cluster sampling. The smartphone addiction scale (SAS)(Cowan et al., 2013), Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20) (Begby et al., 1994) and Body Image Concern Inventory (BICI) (Littleleton et al., 2005) were used to gather information. Data were analyzed using multiple correlation and regression methods using SPSS-23 software. The results showed that there was a significant positive relationship between alexithymia and body image dissatisfaction with smartphone addiction (p <0.01). Standard beta coefficients also showed that alexithymia (β=0.47) and body image dissatisfaction (β=0.31) were able to predict smartphone addiction. Finally, it can be concluded that dissatisfaction with body image and alexithymia are among the variables associated with smartphone addiction and have the ability to predict it.
